The Committess are small working groups specialised in certain matters. They consist of deputies belonging to each Parliamentary Group in proportion to their representation in the Chamber, which is in charge of designating its deputies for every Committee.

 Section 28 of the Statute of Autonomy envisages the creation of Committees, establishing their classification into permanent, and where appropriate, specialiased or of inquiry. On the other hand, the Chamber Regulations in its sections 57 to 73 regulates in detail the different types of Committees, and their competences with their operation regime.

 Within the permanent Committees we can find the following categories:

•  Legislative Permanent Committees: they intervene in the legislative procedure. They are listed in section 69.1 of the Regulations.

• Non-legislative Permanent Committees: they do not participate in the legislative procedure even though they assume other relevant functions such as everything regarding the deputy statute. internal regime, etc. The existing committees are listed under section 70.1 of the Regulations; however, new committes with limited term duration can be created by the agreement of the Plenary. We must mention the Citizens' Defence and Requests Committee, in charge of dealing with the complaints raised by the citizens within the terms pursuant to Part IX of the Regulations. • Special committees or committees of inquiry: provided the Plenary decides so, they can be created for a given draft law in order to carry out an investigation or for any other specific reason. They are regulated under sections 72 and 73 of the Regulations. The Committee sessions are of a more serious nature than the ones of the Plenary, and this is the reason why they are not public, although duly accredited media may attend them.
